- Select the "Active" button for each refraction that you want included in the mean calculation.
- Click the "Update Mean" button to calculate and update the mean of all selected refractions.
- The cylinder sign convention will be the same as the one used in the refraction at the top of the page.
- Additionally a field titled "Estimated BCDVA - UCDVA" is reported. This value is the number of lines of visual acuity that one might expect to observe in terms of the difference between best and uncorrected distance visual acuity.
- For example, if an eye has a manifest Rx of 0.00 D -1.00 D x180, the Expected BCDVA - UCDVA ~ 1.7 lines. If the eyes best corrected visual acuity was 20/20, we could expect their UCDVA to be approximately 20/32 +1.
- This estimate is accurate for refractive errors up to 3.00 D of Spherical and Cylindrical error.
